Workshop Description:
Join us for a practical and engaging 90-minute webinar designed to equip lay leaders for one of the church’s most meaningful ministries of care: visiting those in institutions and homes and extending the sacrament of Holy Communion to those who are unable to attend worship. Together, we will explore the pastoral foundations and practical skills needed for compassionate institutional and home visitation, including how to prepare for a visit, listen with care, offer prayer and spiritual encouragement, and navigate sensitive situations with confidence. Special attention will be given to the sacred responsibility of home communion—helping lay leaders approach this ministry with reverence, faithfulness, and a deeper understanding of its connection to the gathered worshiping community. Whether you are new to this ministry or seeking to strengthen your skills, this webinar will provide encouragement, practical guidance, and meaningful resources for serving others with Christ-centered care.

Instructor Bio

Rev. Dr. Ronnette Comfort-Butler

Rev. Dr. Ronnette Comfort-Butler is an ordained UCC minister, pastor, preacher, and theological educator with a passion for preaching, worship, pastoral care, and developing Christian leaders.

Rev. Dr. Comfort-Butler has served as Senior Pastor of Maytown Reformed UCC for over 18 years. She also served as the Coordinator for Clergy Care for the Penn Central Conference. She has taught preaching and worship in a variety of settings, including the Laypeople in the 21st Century program and Lancaster Theological Seminary, where she served as a Teaching Assistant in preaching for six years.
